HEPS is a 6 GeV fourth‑generation synchrotron radiation facility scheduled to open to worldwide users in the second half of 2026. This research school is designed for PhD students, postdoctoral fellows and young professionals within BRICS member states. The programme combines lecture series on X‑ray methodologies and applications together with practical beamline training on‑site at HEPS.

The school aims to advance synchrotron‑based science in BRICS countries, strengthen technical capacity of early‑career scientists, and create networking opportunities for future joint research.

BRICS-STARS aims to bring together talented PhD students,Postdoctorals and young professionals to this cutting edge facility. The seven-day intensive program provides a unique opportunity for participants to learn latest developments in methodology and application in this world-class flagship light source, enhance their professional skills and broaden their perspectives. The school is expected to facilitate synchrotron X-ray methodoloies and applications development in BRICS countries.
